Lily Feng

Lily Feng is a photographer and freelance graphic designer. She graduated from the Victorian College of the Arts in 2008 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Honours) in photography. She has shown her work at Seventh Gallery, WestSpace and GasWorks Arts Park.

The End Is The Beginning Is The End, 2010, blu-tac, pins, toothpicks

Referencing the skull as a gothic and eternal symbol, Lily Feng has utilised common materials such as blu-tac and pins to sculpt her forms. The malleable nature of blu-tac and its sticky susceptibility to touch, dirt and dust allows for immediacy and imperfection within the sculpture. In this fashion dialogue, the ‘fabric’ of the pins acts as a sort of shroud, protecting, concealing and burying the skull.

is a group exhibition curated by Nella Themelios & Kim Brockett. The exhibition is part of the 2010 L'Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival cultural program.

Insert Coin Here
comprises of two vending machines strategically placed in public spaces around the Melbourne CBD. Containing limited edition 'fashion objects' produced by over 60 Melbourne-based artists, the vending machines are activated when a member of the public inserts a $2 coin. The exhibition explores alternative interfaces of exchange for fashion, the mechanised system as a form of 'fashion dialogue'. More broadly, it thinks through discourses around public space and the role that fashion might play in it.
