Dylan Martorell


Dylan Martorell is an artist and musician whose most recent exhibitions include In Order Out, a group exhibition at Anna Pappas Gallery and Melbourne Reflection – Post Yogyakarta South Gathering 2009, an exhibition organised by The South Project and shown at Bus Projects.

Dylan is also a member of Snawklor, a musical endeavour with fellow Insert Coin Here artist Nathan Gray.

These third generation baby potatoes grew forth from the potatoes used for this exhibition, www.splinterdguild.blogspot.com, and are the 'grandchildren' of potatoes used for this exhibition www.stolantonals.blogspot.com.

In 2007 Dylan exhibited at Craft Victoria which incorporated an installation of a slowly growing configuration of sound sculpture, instruments, and potatoes. Click here to read more about it.

Insert Coin Here

is a group exhibition curated by Nella Themelios & Kim Brockett. The exhibition is part of the 2010 L'Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival cultural program.


Insert Coin Here comprises of two vending machines strategically placed in public spaces around the Melbourne CBD. Containing limited edition 'fashion objects' produced by over 60 Melbourne-based artists, the vending machines are activated when a member of the public inserts a $2 coin. The exhibition explores alternative interfaces of exchange for fashion, the mechanised system as a form of 'fashion dialogue'. More broadly, it thinks through discourses around public space and the role that fashion might play in it.
